Unboxing The Casio Edifice NZ EQS-A500DB-1AV:
When this watch arrived in our office, it was boxed up in smart minimalist styled white box, not too dissimilar to how you would expect a premium Apple device to be packaged. Opening up the box, we were presented with dark blue Clamshell case. All this helped to reinforce that this was a quality time price. Watch our Casio Edifice NZ Unboxing video below.
Casio Edifice NZ Review:
As soon as we opened the box, we knew that this Casio Edifice was a quality watch. It is one of the nicest watches we have ever seen, and has a unique racing layout, giving it a sporty but classic look. Infact a slight variant of this same model is used by the Red Bull Formula F1 team, as their official watch. Apart from slightly different colouring and packaging, the F1 version is visually nearly an identical Casio Edifice watch. However the F1 version does sell for substantially more than this version. This Casio Edifice NZ is built to some of the highest standards, and even though Casio is more of a mainstream watch brand, the Edifice takes the Casio brand up to another level. The Edifice is to Casio in watch terms, as what the Lexus is to Toyota in cars. The Casio Edifice NZ is Casios their premium watch brand. The build quality is right up there with the premium brands. It is mostly all stainless steel, and has a nice solid weight to it. The stainless steel bracelet is solid and simple, and the clasp has two locking mechanisms on it. Best of all it is easy to put on and take off. There are no rough edges to it, the overall built quality is right up there with the best time pieces. It is also not too big, or too small, and although the weight of it takes a little getting used to, as it is quite a hefty and substantial watch.
In terms of features, this watch almost has it all . First off it is Solar Powered. Casio Edifice calls this ‘Tough Solar’. Unlike a smart watch which needs charging most days, this watch ‘NEVER’ needs charging. Most of the dial behind the watch hands is actually a large solar charging cell, which charges a battery inside the watch. There is also a battery meter on the dial in case you need to see what the capacity of the battery is. However it has however never gone below ‘High’ for us. If the battery level does drop, all you need to do is place it on a sunny window ledge for a few hours to charge it back up. Under normal usage though you should never need to do this.
