iPhone 7 Release NZ Coming Soon, including leaked iPhone 7 Leaks

The iPhone 7 release NZ is coming  soon. From leaked information on the internet, the update will be relatively minor. Normally a new iPhone number (eg. the iPhone 4, 5, 6) sees a major design of the iPhones outer casing and/or screen, while the ‘S’ model is usually a major update to the internal hardware of the iPhone. But the leaked photos and information so far on the iPhone 7 makes it appear that it could look quite similar to the current iPhone 6 model.

With the iPhone 7 Release NZ, we believe that there will be more significant changes with the new iPhone 7, than what the leaked information currently shows. We believe that with the iPhone 7 Release NZ, that there is the possibility of big advancements to the front design and screen of the iPhone. If these advancements don’t occur with the iPhone 7, then they will almost certainly occur with the 2017 iPhone. By the time 2017 version of the iPhone comes out next year, it will be the 10 year Anniversary of the original Apple iPhone NZ, and we think it is likely that Apple will go all out to celebrate this with a landmark new phone design in 2017. So it is likely they will not name it’s traditional naming conventions, which where the 2017 iPhone 7s would normally be called the iPhone 7s, as it isn’t the best name for a landmark occasion. We think Apple will instead name the 2017 iPhone something like the iPhone AE (Anniversary Edition) or iPhone X (Tenth year and tenth major model) or even the iPhone 8, missing out the ‘s’ model altogether. It is quite likely Apple will leave major changes that it had planned for the iPhone 7, until next year. However with declining phone sales, they won’t want to underwhelm new customers with a bland update for the 2016 iPhone 7. Some of the things we expect to see on the new iPhone 7 Release NZ, from the leaked information we have seen include:

Changes to the Rear Casing of the iPhone 7

From leaked photos, it appears that the new iPhone 7 outer casing will move the  antenna lines to the top and bottom of the phone, giving it a cleaner look. But it appears the overall form factor of the rear of the casing will still be very similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, just without the two horizontal bars on the back.

Smart Connector on the iPhone 7 Pro / Plus

The back of the iPhone Pro / Plus will include some form of connector, possibly for attachments and /or charging docks. The iPad pro already has such a connector.

New OLED Screen on the iPhone 7

There is the possibility that Apple will release a new OLED display on either the  iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus, or both. The OLED screen is the future of screens, and Apple already use an OLED screen on the Apple Watch. Due to recent advancements in OLED technology, OLED now outperforms LCD screens in almost all areas, with more vivid colour, true blacks, and lower power consumption. However this is something that we think that Apple may leave until 2017, with the iPhone X / iPhone 8 / iPhone AE, or whatever they end up calling it.

Removal of black borders to side of iPhone 7

We think that with the iPhone 7 Release NZ, that there is a strong possibility that the display on the iPhone 7 will go right to the edges of the case, as shown in the picture above, removing the two vertical black borders. Especially if the display is changed to an OLED screen. Getting the screen to go right to the edges of the screen is a lot easier with an OLED screen, than with a traditional LCD screen, however it should still be possible for Apple to do it with their older LED panel technology, and using clever design. If they do go with OLED screens in 2016, the other possibility is that at least one version of the the iPhone 7 may implement a curved screen at the edges, similar to the new Samsung s7 Edge. However this is currently only possible to do with OLED which is a film, and maybe left for the 2017 version of the iPhone.

Removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7

At least one model may not include a normal 3.5mm headphone socket. There have been leaks of iPhone 7 components , both with and without a headphone socket, and we think the leaks show that Apple are still not sure if they want to remove it or not and are seeing what the public think. We think Apple will alienate customers by removing this, but it may give them the ability to make the phone thinner in the future. Instead of a headphone socket, it is likely people will either need Bluetooth headphones, or they will need a pair that plugs into the lightening port.

Dual Camera on the iPhone 7 Pro / Plus

With the iPhone 7 Release NZ, this is one rumor that is very likely to be true, and there have been leaked cases showing iPhone 7 backs with a space for twin cameras. This is likely to only be included on the iPhone 7 Pro/ Plus model.  The benefits of the twin cameras, is that it will supposedly allow you to shift the depth of field in the photo, creating so very cool camera effects. We expect the the camera will continue to stick out slightly from the case. From photos the camera on the regualr iPhone 7, the single version of the camera also looks to be slightly larger than the current one.

iPhone 7 Pro to ship with 3GB of RAM

The iPhone 7 Pro version is expected to ship with 3GB of RAM, to power the dual camera, and for other pro features. It is also very likely that the pro model will ship with up to 256 GB of storage, as with the 2016 iPad Pro models.

iPhone 7 Camera to use a Laser Focus system

It appears from leaked photos leading up to the iPhone 7 Release NZ, that the new camera on the iPhone 7 may come with a laser focus system, as there is an additional hole near the flash. Laser focusing is something that we would expect to see on the new iPhone 7, due to it appearing on other flagship phone models from other brands.

Remaining the iPhone 7 Plus, to iPhone 7 Pro

It is very likely Apple will rename the iPhone 7 Plus, to iPhone 7 pro, to move the more higher specified iPhone inline with their other ‘Pro’ products, such as as their new iPad pros.

There will be no iPhone 7 16GB Model

We believe they will at last drop the 16GB model of the iPhone for their new models. 16GB is far too small for a premium priced product, and as memory is so cheap, Apple shouldn’t still be selling a 16GB model, that diminishes the usability and enjoyment of the device. We believe this year the minimum specified model will have 32GB.

The iPhone will almost certainly be powered by an A10 chip

Almost a 100% certainty.

With the lead up to the iPhone 7 Release NZ, there has been quite a lot of leaked information about the iPhone 7, but this amount of leaked information seems to be quite normal these days. We believe many of the leaked iPhone photos are intentionally leaked for two main reasons. It is done to judge peoples reactions to the design and feature changes, while they are still at the prototype stage. It is also done for advertising reasons, and to build up the ‘buzz’ regarding the product launch, and it is a very clever and cheap way of marketing.

iPhone 7 Release NZ

With the iPhone 7 Release NZ coming up, some of the things we would like to see on the new iPhone 7, but we doubt we will see them, include:

  • A larger capacity battery. This is the problem with most phones, the battery life is poor. Many people would prefer a bigger heavy phone, to get longer life out of the battery.
  • Water proof casing. The iPhone should be possible to build as a sealed unit, especially as it has a non removable battery. Other manufacturers such as Sony have been able to do it, and it would solve so many problems with water damaged phones.
  • The 3.5mm headphone socket to remain. Enough said.
  • Wireless Charging. Apple are working on this technology, and we do believe they will eventually release this as a feature, but we don’t expect them to release wireless charging this year for the 2016 iPhone 7. They may wait to release it for the 2017 iPhone X or whatever they end up calling the 10th anniversary iPhone. When they do bring it out, we hope that it is a system that beats all other wireless charging systems out there.
  • Integrating a proper file system into iOS. It is just far too difficult to mange files on the iPhone, when they aren’t in any folders. Now they have ‘Pro’ models for productivity, it is something that is well overdue.

Our staff at the Lounge Network currently use Apple iPhone as our main devices. We have used both android phones and iPhones over the years, and the main reason we have gone back to using an iPhone as our main daily driver, is that it is more reliable, remains faster over it’s life for longer, and Apple continue to provide iOS updates for it for many years. So even 4 years down the track you can have a perfectly good iPhone still working with the latest version of iOS. Our experience with Android is that the manufacturer may only support it for 1-2 years on their new flagship models. They can also be very slow at releasing Android updates, and the new versions of Android can slow down the phone terribly and make it very laggy after only a few years of use. They also lack the standard Apps that Apple include for free, and the apps tend to be more buggy and more crash prone from our experience.  We also find that there are more Apps for the iPhone, and the apps tend to be more reliable and less prone to crashing.  Although new versions of iOS can also slow down Apple devices as they get older, from our experience they don’t slow down the devices to the same extent.
